Small Salver (1839)

Small Salver (1839)

Salvers were used in the Victorian era to serve drinks and food to guests, or they would be placed on a side table for letters or cards to be put down. This salver dates from 1839 - the year that Britain captured Hong Kong from China, the first Opium War began in China and the celestial photograph (of Moon) made in US by John Draper in New York.
